Action 2 (EVS)
Q: Who should register at the Youthpass website and add the EVS project? The host organisation staff or the volunteer?
A: It is the task of the host organisation to issue a Youthpass Certificate to the volunteer, i.e. to register at the Youthpass website, to enter the details of the organisation, the project as well as the volunteers' details.
When it comes to describing the volunteers’ Key Competences gained in the EVS project, the mentor and the volunteer should reflect on the volunteers’ learning together.
For pedagogical support how to reflect on learning outcomes with the help of the Key Competences, please have a look at the EVS-chapter of the Youthpass Guide.
Q: How can the mentor and the volunteer work on the Certificate together if the volunteer is already back home?
A: If the volunteer is not in the host organisation anymore, the dialogue between the mentor and the volunteer on his/ her learning outcomes can be done by e-mail or phone. For example, the volunteer can draft a description of his/ her Key Competences in a word document. The final text can then be copied into the Youthpass tool by the mentor.
It could be very interesting to involve the sending mentor in this discussion as well, as he/she can give a valuable feedback.
Q: One of our volunteers left the project early. Should we issue Youthpass for him/ her?
A: Due to the fact that Youthpass draws the main attention on learning outcomes it does not matter if the young person leaves earlier. And we think learning happens no matter how long a volunteer stayed in the project.
In the section “project details” you can adjust the duration of the project according to the period the volunteer spent in the project.
