Competence Wheel

To reflect on which skills have developed, where effort has paid off, and where growth is still in progress - visually and honestly.

What you will need:

  • A notebook or blank sheet of paper to draw your Competence Wheel
  • A pen or pencil for marking levels and writing reflections
  • Coloured pens or markers (optional, to distinguish competences or highlight growth)
  • If doing it digitally – a phone, tablet, or computer (notes app, drawing app, or document tool)

Step 1: Draw Your Competence Wheel

  • Choose 6–8 competences that feel relevant to your ESC experience (see suggestions below).

  • Rate yourself from 1 to 5 on each one:

    • 1 = Just beginning

    • 5 = Feeling confident

  • Mark the dots and connect them to form your "growth shape."

Step 2: Reflect on One or Two competences

Pick one competence where you’ve grown a lot and one where you still want to improve.

Write a short reflection:

  • What helped me develop this competence?
  • What feedback did I apply?
  • What was a challenge I handled well using this competence?
  • What surprised me about my own response?
